The Team provides additional capacity to support the inspection of multi-occupied residential buildings, strengthening oversight and improving confidence in building safety. A structured programme of inspections is currently being developed to ensure a consistent and effective approach.

Operating in an advisory role, the JIT does not hold enforcement powers. Instead, it will work collaboratively with existing enforcement authorities, offering expert advice and clear recommendations. This will include real-time reporting of matters of significant concern, comprehensive inspection reports, post-inspection discussions, and structured review meetings with host Local Authorities and the relevant Fire and Rescue Services.

The Joint Inspection Team will also actively promote the availability of Welsh Government-funded intrusive surveys, supporting building owners and managing agents to better understand their buildings and encouraging greater engagement with the Building Safety Fund.
